It Has To Be For You!

Disclaimer: I am not making fun of nor am I knocking anyone that wants to lose weight. I sincerely hope you all succeed. Let me be the first to say “Good Luck “with two thumbs up. However, I do have question for all of you…

We are six months into the New Year… Are you still as passionate and headstrong about losing those unwanted pounds, as you were on January 1st? Hmmmmmmm?

For a lot of people that answer is No. We are already thinking of reasons not to go to the gym, if we are still going at all. We have already had a bag of plan Ruffles and a 20oz Pepsi (Don’t act like it’s just me). We have physically and mentally fallen off the wagon.

Unfortunately, that is reality for most of us that are overweight. We start off strong, but we never finish the race. Also for most of us it’s a repetitive cycle. A cycle that I for one have dealt with most of my adult life. I know there are a lot of other people out there just like me that go through this. We want to lose weight but we can get it together to make it happen. We start but never finish.

I’ve seen people that have lost weight and kept it off for years. It makes you wonder… Why can’t we last longer than 3 weeks? Why can we make this comment to lose weight and stick to it. More importantly when we lose weight, why can’t we keep it off? Why? Why? Why? There are two major reason (other than medical) why this may not be working for us.

The first reason is…. You (and I) are not ready… Until you are ready, you can try every diet known to man and you will not lose weight. Even If you do lose weight and but you’re not mentally ready to continue the work to keep the weight off, you are more than likely to gain the weight back. Which defeats the purpose. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to lose weight and it didn’t work. It’s because I was not ready for the commitment of a life style change and he work it takes to maintain it.

The second reason is… You (and I) are doing it to please others. You have let the opinions of family members, friends and society slip into your head. People telling you, you’re too fat, fat is ugly, you’ll never be accepted looking the way that you do or you would be much prettier (or happier) if you were smaller. If you hear these things often enough you start to internalize them and believe them. At this point you are making the decision to change based on someone else’s opinion of you and because you want to be accepted. You know what that maybe what you need to lose weight, and you may lose 100 pounds. But will you be happy? Will that make that make those throwing stones stop or will they find something else to beat you down about?

Whatever you decide to do regarding losing weight you have to do it for YOU and you have to be mentally prepared for a lifelong commitment. This decision cannot be about someone else. It has to be about you and what will make you happy at the end of the day. The opinion of others doesn’t matter because people are always going to have something to say. That’s what people do give opinions that no one asks for…

Just like this blog. LOL

Seriously… I wish you the best on your journey. Please know you are amazing no matter what size you are, don’t let anyone tell you different. As you prepare yourself for this life style change, always remember... Whatever you do… Do It For You!!!

Until Next Time… Wishing You All Things Fabulous!
